04.07.06

i'm home alone this week and probably next week, or i should say, bax and i are home alone. shane has gone to bendigo to be with his mom, who has decided stop all care after almost 4 months of being in the critical care unit and having no major improvement. both shane and i agree that we can't blame her one bit, there's no end in sight to life in the hospital for her and it's a miserable way to live. the only positive thing to come out of this, aside from her discomfort, misery and boredom to be soon ending, is that shane's brothers and sisters are arriving from all over australia and canada in the next few days with their families and i'm really looking forward to having them here, especially as a support system for shane's dad. i have friday afternoon off so i'll be taking baxter to work with me and then heading straight up to bendigo from work. it's all so bizarre. shane has said that his mom is quite content and in good spirits but i'm very nervous to see her. i usually put on an extra cheery face when we visit her but that just seems ridiculous now. basically they're keeping her comfortable until she gets the chance to see all of her family and then will take her off the ventilator permanently. it's so foreign to me to know she has this decision made and that it's all only a matter of days, early next week it will all be over but the funeral.

03.07.06

god damn, i can't believe it's july - where DOES the time go? i know i said i'd be posting more often about 2 weeks ago and then haven't done a thing, i really, really do hope to write a few more things down here more regularly. just a bit uninspired, unfortunatley, especially when there is a puppy and sewing projects to play with when i go home at night. little bax was sooooooo great over the weekend and we discovered that he really does just sleep all day, even when we're home, so i don't have to feel too guilty for leaving him alone while i go to work. if he keeps going well with his paper training and we can get him down to just using the litter box with paper in it, i plan on bringing him into work for a morning next week. everyone is pretty excited to see him and, if he behaves, he just may get an invitation back!
